The keynote talk and introduction to the Institute this year is from our artist and writer in residence, Michael O'Brien. Mr. O’Brien is the author of twenty-eight books, notably the novel Father Elijah and twelve other novels, which have been translated into fourteen languages and widely reviewed in both secular and religious media in North America and Europe.

Since 1970 he has also worked as a professional artist and has had numerous exhibits across North America during the ensuing 40 years. Since 1976 he has painted religious imagery exclusively, a field that ranges from liturgical commissions to visual reflections on the meaning of the human person.

Michael O’Brien lives near Combermere, Ontario. He and his wife Sheila have six children and ten grandchildren. Mr. O'Brien will be taking questions in the chat at the conclusion of the video.
